Shaman Guide – Advantages And Disadvantages Of Using The Shaman
This Shaman guide was made to orient the player to the fun but complex role that the Shaman plays in WoW. So what exactly are the Shamans?
The Shaman in the World of Warcraft is a hybrid damage dealer that possesses an assortment of attributes and could play simultaneous roles. The Shamans could play as the healer, as the warrior and could create damage to groups even from a distance. They serve very versatile purposes in the game. Even with these attributes, the Shamans are not actually superior to the other characters. Even so, the Shaman’s contribution to the game will be appreciated, even sought for, as the game progresses. For example, a Shaman may fight though he cannot fight better than the warrior. The Shaman could be a Healer but not as well as a Holy Priest or deal damage but not as successful as a Warlock. Because the Shaman has a mix of attributes, it makes for good standalone character in the game. When the powers are developed and as the game progresses, it is recommended to have a Shaman by your side.
Attributes that characterize the Shaman:
{The Totem} – The totem defines the Shaman which it gets after undergoing a set of quests that has to be completed. The different totems that the Shaman acquires during quests are based on the race that you have selected and the totems when used properly could spell a huge amount of damage to the opponents. When the totem is engaged, the Shaman will only be on a motionless position, its spell then only affects those that are within the totem’s range. What appears to be a disadvantage though could be offset as the Shaman could use up to four different totems with different attributes at the same time. Caution should be observed while the Shamans’ abilities to use the totem is being developed. How the talent points that were earned are to be spent defines the Shaman’s attributes and could very well affect the results of the game. Developing a Shaman focusing a lot on one tree diminishes his ability in other areas. It is well then to develop the skills of the Shaman based on a strategy that the Shaman has to play especially for the end game.
{Spells} – The spells of the Shaman are based upon the elements. Used properly, these could cast damage, weapon buffs and healing.
{Talents} – The Elemental talents are mainly for improvement of the offensive atacks. The use of this talent is when your purpose is to create the heaviest damage and the most critical strikes.
The Enhancement talents are used for ability during melees and totem enhancements. This is a favored talent during the earlier parts of the game since the spells here do not use mana. As the level of the game and the abilities advance other very powerful weapons are learned and earned.
Restoration talents are generally used for healing and restoration. When more talent points are earned multi regeneration and simultaneous heal spells could be cast by the Shaman.
Often, the Shaman is the least appreciated character in the earlier parts of the game. Partly, this is because the Shaman could be considered as a ‘jack of all trades’ and has no specific specialty at any one function. This Shaman guide then might help the player as it is in the later stages of the game where the abilities of the Shaman are actually sought after and respected.
